Using the WordPress Newsletter Plugin on the Orlando Web Wizard server you need to be aware of the “CAN-SPAM Act”
A Compliance Guide for Business
Please go to this website and familiarize yourself with the CAN-SPAM Act rules:
http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bus61-can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business
As your hosting service provider when our team installs and configures the Newsletter plugin on your website account we added these rules :
“To,” “Reply-To,” and routing information, valid physical postal address, and clear, conspicuous explanation of how the recipient can opt-out, in the footer.
However, as a business owner, you need to understand the “CAN-SPAM ACT“ rules and follow them:
Don’t use deceptive subject lines. The subject line must accurately reflect the content of the message.
Identify the message as an ad. The law gives you a lot of leeway in doing this, but you must disclose clearly and conspicuously that your message is an advertisement.
Honor opt-out requests promptly. In the Newsletter Plugin, users can opt out on their own however, if they choose to email you, it is your responsibility to remove them and do not add them back later without their permission.
If you want me to remove users, you must join our WordPress Managed Care services.
Monitor what others are doing on your behalf. Your employees and if you hire another company to handle your email marketing.
Orlando Web Wizard’s policy is that there should be no sexually explicit email messages. We will shut the list down if we find any sexually explicit emails going out from the Orlando Web Wizard’s mail server.
If you have any questions please call me during business hours Monday – Friday from 9 AM – 5 PM.
